Our Company
Residence Artist, Inc. (RA) is a full-service general contracting company specializing in the restoration of elite homes in the greater Cleveland area. The company was founded in 1973 and is owned by Keith Landies. Keith has been the sole owner and president since 1996. Keith’s oldest son, Stewart, is the vice-president and has been in a management role since 1997. RA began as a painting and decorating company and added a construction division in the mid 1980’s.
It is often said that RA is Cleveland’s only exclusive “one-stop shopping” company, where one can ask for everything from a new home or facility to a plumber for a service call to a basic exterior paint job by making one phone call.
For over 30 years, RA has been offering the best service that money can buy. The business continues to thrive and is based solely on referrals from existing customers. RA’s clients trust the employees to work in their homes, even when they are out of town for extended periods of time. They give the workers the responsibility to secure their homes and look after their belongings. Various satisfied customers have even commissioned RA to perform projects at winter and vacation homes outside of Northeast Ohio, including Florida and New York City.

Our Team
Although diversity of skills makes RA unique, it is the employees that set it apart from the competition. The workforce at RA fluctuates between 45 and 50 full-time employees that include painters, paperhangers, artists, carpenters, and job superintendents. Combined, these men have over 415 years of experience. Even though they are tremendous technicians, more often than not they are complimented on their attitude, cleanliness, dedication, and service. The ability to cater to clients’ needs while producing the highest quality product is truly what makes them special.
Subcontractors
In addition to the full-time employees, RA has teamed with the best subcontractors in the area in
order to take a job from start to finish. RA is the largest customer for nearly all of these “subs,”
and for some the only customer. This allows RA to avoid competing with other general contractors for
the “sub’s” services, and enables them to offer immediate service to the customers. Whether it is
roofing, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpeting, or any other construction related service, RA has access to the very best that Cleveland can offer. Unlike most general contractors, an RA employee is sent with all subcontractors to oversee and make sure the task is handled with the proper amount of care.
Facility
RA also offers a 12,000-square foot warehouse facility in Chardon where there are two paint spray booths and a fully equipped carpentry shop. This enables the employees to perform fine finishes in a controlled environment. A few examples of “shop projects” (all performed without inconveniencing the customer) are back priming and applying a first coat of paint to redwood or cedar siding prior to installation, restoring furniture, and painting shutters in the middle of winter. The warehouse is adjacent to the office where there are five full-time staff members (no automated voices) who are ready to serve the customer as the calls come in.
Architects and Designers
The Residence Artists team has the resources to make dreams into reality. RA is experienced in kitchen and bath design and can offer decorating advice. For larger projects, RA can recommend a decorator or designer. For construction projects, RA works hand-in-hand with some of the best residential architects in the city. Together, they are able to assemble a plan that not only gives a customer what he or she wants but one that also works mechanically to eliminate “change orders.”
